About Me

I have a love for designing and developing learning experiences that result in effective solutions and practical changes. My professional experience has given me the knowledge to design effective and engaging instruction for all learners.

My Experience

I have a proven track record of increasing the number of learners who have met the learning objectives and improving assessment results. In my spare time as an instructional designer, I have been collaborating with a stakeholder and project team on the creation of a global, online course. These valuable experiences have grown my interest in instructional design and online learning development.

You’ll notice throughout my portfolio that I have taken the time to learn and become proficient with a range of tools. As an educator, I have worked with learning management systems to implement online learning and with design tools like Canva to support the visual design of instructional materials.

My Design Process

I always start with a thorough analysis. This typically includes meeting with the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and/or developer, researching best practices for online learning, and reviewing the available educational tools directly involved with the project. From there, I work with the SME to identify what learners need to be able to do as a result of the learning as well as the best way to deliver the learning. This informs the learning objectives and assessment strategies. I then work with the developer to create a design plan to follow. Once agreed upon, I collaborate with the SME/developer to create the learning content and keep major stakeholders informed. Upon completion, I gather data to determine the success of the learning and what improvements could be made. This may also include getting feedback from the learners on their experience with the learning. I consider a learning experience successful if there is a clear increase in the learners' ability to apply the skills and knowledge they've learned.
