About Me

I have a love for designing and developing learning experiences that result in effective solutions and practical changes. My professional experience has given me the knowledge to design effective and engaging instruction for adult learners.

My Experience

I have a proven track record of increasing the number of learners who have met the learning objectives and improving assessment results. In my spare time as an instructional designer, I have been collaborating with a stakeholder and project team on the creation of a global, online course. These valuable experiences have grown my interest in instructional design and online learning development.

You’ll notice throughout my portfolio that I have taken the time to learn and become proficient with Rise and Camtasia. As an educator, I have worked with learning management systems to implement online learning and with design tools like Canva to support the visual design of instructional materials.

My Design Process

I always start with a thorough needs analysis. This typically includes interviewing several learners, looking at and gathering data, and interviewing managers and stakeholders directly involved with the project. From there, I work with stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to identify what learners need to be able to do as a result of the learning as well as the best way to deliver the learning. This informs the learning objectives and assessment strategies. I then create the design plan to present for approval. Once approved, I develop the learning, keeping stakeholders and SMEs informed. Upon implementation, I continue to gather data to determine the success of the learning and what improvements could be made. This may also include getting feedback from the learners on their experience with the learning. I consider a learning experience successful if there is a clear decrease in the issue and increase in the learners' ability to apply the skills and knowledge they've learned.
